FPM Heat Treating, with plant operations located in Elk Grove Village, Cherry Valley IL and Milwaukee WI, continues to expand our resources based on increased demands from customers.

We are looking for experienced and talented heat treat maintenance individuals at all levels for these plant operations.

QUALITY INSPECTOR - ALL SHIFTS

One position for FPM Heat Treating - Cherry Valley, IL

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday - 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. and Wednesday – 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. (Must be flexible to work different schedules as may be necessary from time-to-time)

Description:
Performs duties to conduct metallurgic inspection in-process and finished work on a variety of heat treated parts and materials.  Performs all shipping duties as required.

Job Duties:

  1. Work from shop orders, blue prints and special instructions.
  2. Work from sampling plans of various types.
  3. Prepare and test materials which involve various surface relationships and quality requirements.
  4. Set-up, adjust, and calibrate equipment such as digital and manual Rockwell testers, Brinnell testers and portable Rockwell testers.
  5. Determines hardness checks on heat treated parts and materials using R15N, R30N, R45N, RD and RA scales.
  6. Inspects parts and material visually for specified surface quality characteristics, nicks, dents, scratches, and conformance to specification.
  7. Approve or reject items.  Ensure final product conforms to specification and is properly identifies as conforming/non-conforming.
  8. Contact appropriate supervisor for any quality discrepancies.
  9. Prepare and maintain required department certifications, paper work, records and reports.
  10. Follow all safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.

 

Perform other duties as may be assigned.

 

Requirements:

    1. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
    2. One or more year’s heat treat or other technical work experience preferred.
    3. Experience as a Metallurgic Inspector and/or Lab Technician is desired.
    4. Must be able to communicate in English; bilingual English/Spanish very helpful.

 

Mathematical Skills:
General math skills required to perform various calculations as may be necessary.

Reasoning Ability:

  1. Must use common sense and capable of making quick, informed decisions.
  2. Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

 

Other Skills and Abilities:

  1. Self-starter who is aggressive yet personable and willingly accepts responsibility.
  2. Excellent time management skills desired.

QUALITY ENGINEER – Elk Grove Village, IL-based

FPM Heat Treating, an industry leader in commercial heat treating, is seeking a Quality Engineer for its headquarters in Elk Grove Village, IL.

Successful candidates will have a degree in Metallurgy or Material Science, a minimum of 5 years experience maintaining a complete quality system, and be well versed in quality systems, specifically ISO 9001-2008 and with maintaining the compliance requirements of the Automotive and Aerospace Industries. In addition, successful candidates will be self-motivated, detail-oriented and possess strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities include maintaining quality system documentation, certifications, specification interpretation, monthly performance metrics, associate quality training, ISO audits, and special projects.

QUALITY LAB TECHNICIANS - 2 POSITIONS

One position for FPM Heat Treating - Cherry Valley, IL

Description:
Inspects in-process work on a variety of heat-treated parts and materials. Works from shop orders, blue prints, special instructions, and from sampling plans of various types. Prepare and test materials which involve various surface relationships and quality requirements. Set-up, adjust and calibrate equipment such as digital and manual Rockwell testers, Brinnell testers and portable Rockwell testers. Inspect parts and materials visually for specified surface quality characteristics, nicks, dents, scratches and conformance to specifications. Approve or reject items. Properly identify product as conforming or non-conforming. Prepare and maintain department certifications, paperwork, records and reports. Release product and move or have moved to designated area. Laboratory analysis of heat treated product including hardness testing, microstructure analysis, case depths, as well as cutting and mounting test samples. Prepare sample bags and attach any required documents as required. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Must be able to work safely, understand, follow, and adhere to all departmental work instructions.
Fork Lift training will be provided and certification required.
Previous heat treating/inspection experience desired.
Successful candidate must be able to pass appropriate in-house task tests.
Heat treating plant and labs are areas where work area temperatures may/can reach above 100 degrees during summer months.
